Born in Ul'dah to merchant parents who decided to move from the Shroud to Thanalan to facilitate trading, Willeaux showed afffinity with magic at a very young age.
He was left at the Ossuary at the age of four. It is a mystery what led his parents do do this, but he has never seen them every since. He prefers to assume they are dead.
At fourteen, he was recruited in the Griffin Guard Company and traveled across most of Eorzea with them. However, his time with them was cut short when they happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Caught a primal's path, the Company was decimated. How he survived and what exactly happened is not something he is wont to comment on.Following this, Willeaux spent a year at the Stillglade Fane to learn conjury, a form of magic he deemed more useful.Now back to Ul'dah, he's built a network of contacts in the underbelly of the city, making profit out of helping those refusing to deal with any of Grand Companies.

When his parents died, Willeaux was recruited in the Griffin Guard Company, a mercenary band primarily composed of Ala Mhigan refugees and other Uld'ahn orphans. Maybe you met him there or through one of their contracts.
2. UNUSUAL AETHERPOOL
Trained mages or any others able to sense aether will realize he has an absurd amount of aether. As to why this is the reason he was taken in by the Guild at a young age, or if his talents were refined there is up to debate.
3. ULD'AHN CITIZEN
Willeaux was born in Ul'dah and grew most of his childhood there. Early on he started taking thaumaturgy lessons. Now that he's independent, he's back in his native city looking for work and potentially familiar faces.
4. FORBIDDEN ARTS
He has been acquiring as of late some old tomes and scrolls whose origins can be traced back to Sil'dih. If you are a merchant dabbling in the black market, you might have met him already.
